Weather Patterns is an interactive installation that evolves via wind, precipitation, and your exploration! Each cluster responds with sound and light to weather conditions and human interaction, engaging multiple senses. Together, the sculptures harmonize while changing independently in response to their environment.
Owen Lowery is a Pittsburgh-based artist with a mission to create situations that foster and reward curiosity. He prioritizes Universal Design in his work, hoping that all people—regardless of age, height, ability, or disability—may engage in a meaningful way. Weather Patterns is Owen’s first artwork to intentionally respond to outdoor elements, making it most active during weather conditions people often avoid (rain, snow, high winds) and encouraging exploration of art in strange new conditions.
East Garden is dedicated in memory of Maria G. “Lupe” Hopp. The exhibition is supported in part by gifts from the Daniel F. Hopp Family Foundation, Arcadia Gardens, LLC, and Horizon Bank.
