The Krasl Clay Artist Guild Program provides experienced ceramicists with independent access to the KAC ceramics studio. Members are invited to participate in a number of KAC events and programs throughout the year, including Ceramic Studio Potlucks, Raku Firings, Studio Open Houses, and the Krasl Art Fair on the Bluff. We believe the cooperative interaction of people in the studio is a rich source of artistic development carried out in a mutually supportive environment.
Curbside Guild Membership
Curbside Guild Membership includes cone 04 bisque and cone 6 glaze firings. Members may drop off/pick up art to be fired on Mondays, 11 am-1 pm and 4-6 pm.
Email Education Manager Nathan Margoni at firstname.lastname@example.org to let him know when you plan to arrive, what you would like to pick up, and if you would like to purchase any additional clay or glazes. Text him at (269) 921-0093 when you are in the parking lot. No need to walk to the front door- he will deliver to your car!
*Curbside Members may also drop off art in the Overlook Room on Fri/Sat/Sun. For alternate pickup dates, email email@example.com so that Nathan can notify front desk staff.
In-Studio Guild Membership includes cone 04 bisque and cone 6 glaze firings, house-made glazes, and independent use of the ceramics studios during KAC open hours (except during scheduled classes). Wheels, slab-roller, and other tools are available.
Open Studio Hours
Studios are available during regular KAC open hours, except during scheduled classes. All available studio hours are reflected in the Doodle Polls (see below).
In-Studio Guild members must fill out a Doodle Poll to reserve a space and time at least 24 hours prior to working in the studio. Please arrive and depart as scheduled and plan for cleanup time. A maximum of 8 (6 in main studio/2 in glazing) guild members may work in the studios at the same time.
Please reserve your primary workspace at the following links.
*To schedule short visits to the studio (5 minutes or less), email firstname.lastname@example.org so that Nathan can notify front desk staff.
*Guild members who have special permission to work in the drying room or kiln room must email email@example.com so that Nathan can notify front desk staff.
Clay may be purchased for $25 per 25 lb. bag. We stock a variety of cone 6 clay bodies from West Michigan Clay and Laguna. See list of clay bodies HERE.
Glazes are included in In-Studio Guild Membership. Curbside Guild Members may purchase a variety of KAC glazes for $5 per 8 oz. Email firstname.lastname@example.org and specify which colors you would like to purchase. See glaze test tiles HERE.
Generally, the turnaround time for firing is about 2 weeks, but it may take up to 1 month depending on the amount of work we receive from guild members and students.
Krasl Clay Artist Guild membership is not to be confused with a Krasl Art Center membership and its benefits. KAC membership is encouraged but not required for Clay Artist Guild consideration and participation.
