The Krasl Clay Artist Guild is a group of experienced ceramicists with independent access to the KAC ceramics studio. Members support and inspire one another through collaboration in the studio and participation in KAC events including Krasl Art Fair on the Bluff, Soup’s On, and Art Markets.

Curbside Guild Membership | $25/month

Curbside Guild Membership includes cone 04 bisque and cone 6 glaze firings. Members may drop off/pick up art to be fired* during KAC open hours, but MUST email 24 hours ahead of time to let him know when they are coming.

Curbside members may go into the studio to drop off/pick up art (except during scheduled classes), OR they can wait in their car to have it delivered to their door!

*Clay fired in KAC kilns must be purchased at KAC.

**Curbside Members may also drop off art in the Overlook Room on Fri/Sat/Sun. For alternate pickup dates, email so Nathan can notify front desk staff.

In-Studio Membership | $50/month

In-Studio Guild Membership includes cone 04 bisque and cone 6 glaze firings, house-made glazes, and independent use of the ceramics studios during KAC open hours (except during scheduled classes). Wheels, slab-roller, and other tools are available.

Open Studio Hours

Studios are available during regular KAC open hours, except during scheduled classes. All available studio hours are reflected in the Doodle Polls (see below).


In-Studio Guild members must fill out a Doodle Poll to reserve a space and time at least 24 hours prior to working in the studio. Please arrive and depart as scheduled and plan for cleanup time. A maximum of 10 (8 in main studio/2 in glazing) guild members may work in the studios at the same time.

Clay may be purchased for $25 per 25 lb. bag. We stock a variety of cone 6 clay bodies from West Michigan Clay and Laguna. See list of clay bodies HERE.


Glazes are included in In-Studio Guild Membership. Curbside Guild Members may purchase a variety of KAC glazes for $5 per 8 oz. Email and specify which colors you would like to purchase. See glaze test tiles HERE.

Generally, the turnaround time for firing is about 2 weeks, but it may take up to 1 month depending on the amount of work we receive from guild members and students.

COVID Requirements/Policies

  • KAC REQUIRES masks be worn by all staff, volunteers, students, guild members and visitors while indoors.
  • KAC Vaccination Policy: This policy is effective as of 10/15/21
    • Who is impacted by the policy: All KAC Employees, Board of Directors, In-Studio Guild Members, and public facing Contractors (Teaching Faculty/Teaching Artists) and public facing Volunteers (Guest Services & Docents)
    • All individuals listed above must provide proof of vaccination status (see Section IV, Proof of Vaccination below) by 10/29/21 which may be full vaccination or first dose. If only providing proof of first dose, employee must provide proof of second dose (when required per CDC) by 11/30/21.
    • All new employees, volunteers, guild members, board members, contractors must show proof of vaccination upon hire or start date.
  • Maintain at least 6 ft distance from other guild members and staff at all times
  • Complete Doodle Poll prior to scheduled work time
  • Sign in/out at KAC front desk and mark checkbox that you are not experiencing COVID symptoms
  • No food or drink consumption permitted in studios
  • Wipe down canvas tables with soapy water and disinfect tools and workspace after each use. This includes wheels, stools, glazing buckets, and any surfaces touched while working. Cleaning/Disinfecting materials are provided in each studio.



  • Access to the KAC ceramic studio during regular KAC hours of operation, except during scheduled classes.
  • Storage space, work tables, hand building tools, potters’ wheels and glazes are provided. Clay may be purchased at the KAC reception desk.
  • All artwork produced is monitored and fired by the Ceramics Studio Manager.
  • Eligibility to apply for participation in the KAC Faculty and Guild Open Studio Tent during the Krasl Art Fair on the Bluff.


  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Previous ceramics coursework in a recognized arts organization.
  • Completed Guild Application Form
  • Orientation meeting with KAC Ceramics Studio Technician.
  • Members must maintain a clean workspace and be respectful towards others.
  • Guild artists are encouraged to come often, stay long and create with enthusiasm!


  • Class discounts or coupons do not apply to Open Studio memberships.
  • Fees are non-refundable.
  • Dues are to be paid in advance at the reception desk.
  • Members are responsible for paying dues in a timely manner; dues may be paid by check, cash or credit card.
  • Failure to make required payments will terminate membership. The KAC reserves the right to refuse renewal.


Krasl Clay Artist Guild membership is not to be confused with a Krasl Art Center membership and its benefits. KAC membership is encouraged but not required for Clay Artist Guild consideration and participation.
