KRASL CLAY ARTIST GUILD

The KAC Clay Artist Guild provides experienced ceramicists with independent access to the KAC ceramics studio, promoting a collaborative atmosphere conducive to creative growth. Members are encouraged to participate in KAC events like the annual Ceramics Studio Fundraiser and the Krasl Art Fair on the Bluff. We aim to cultivate a dynamic and interconnected local arts community through our talented members’ collective contributions. The studio is a creative hub, dedicated to artistic expression and shared by students, faculty, and guild members of diverse skill levels; it is not intended for production or storage purposes.

Payments

  • $175 quarterly payments* due on January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1
  • *Guild members are encouraged to participate in automatic payments by completing the Credit Card Authorization Form available at the KAC front desk.
  • Payments should be made by the first day of each quarter. Late payment notices will be emailed two weeks after the start of the quarter, and shelves will be packed up after one month without payment.

open studio hours

Studios are available during regular KAC open hours, except during scheduled classes.  All available studio hours are reflected in the Guild Studio Calendar, which is updated regularly and posted in the studios. Guild members MUST sign in and out at the front desk when using the ceramics studios, even for short visits.

Clay

  • Clay may be purchased for $30 per 25 lb bag. We stock a variety of Cone 6 clay bodies from West Michigan Clay and Laguna.
  • It is REQUIRED that guild members purchase clay from Krasl At Center only.

kiln use

  • Membership includes Cone 04 and Cone 6 firing for up to two cubic feet per month. Members who regularly produce more than two cubic feet per month will be charged an additional $50 per quarter.
      • How do I know if I am using more than two cubic feet per month? We estimate that two cubic feet is the equivalent of 10 lbs of clay per month or about five bags of clay per year. If Guild Members are purchasing MORE than five bags of clay in a year, they will be charged an additional $50 each quarter.
  • Generally, the turnaround time for firing is about two weeks, but it may take up to one month depending on the amount of work we receive from Guild Members.
