ARTIST OPPORTUNITIES

Krasl Art Center’s mission is to inspire meaningful change and strengthen community through the visual arts. KAC’s artist opportunities are diverse and layered, and support this mission. We celebrate and support artists at all stages of their career, fostering meaningful relationships through the creation, exploration, and patronage of art. We welcome artist applications in the following areas:

EXHIBITIONS

Krasl Art Center displays contemporary art indoors and out year-round. We value experimentation, innovation, excellence, timeliness and relevance. In KAC’s galleries, guests discover a safe place to experience new ideas and new media, and engage in challenging and provocative dialogue.

If you are an artist or curator with an exhibition concept or body of work that meets these values, please submit a proposal to curatorial@krasl.org.

Exhibition proposals are reviewed on an ongoing basis and held for 2 years. Due to the quantity received, we will contact you only in the event of an exhibition opportunity.

CURRENT CALL FOR ARTISTS

Krasl Art Center seeks to showcase select regional artist projects that have been created as a result of the 2020 executive orders for shelter-in-place. Projects will be displayed in KAC’s artlab gallery as part of an intimate group exhibition. The artlab is a 367 square foot venue dedicated to experimentation, installation and contemporary art.

Artist projects must be the result of the recent shelter-in-place executive orders.

Projects may refelct:

  • Innovations in materials due to limited access to supplies
  • Shifts in content or concepts as a direct result of shelter-in-place
  • An increase in time available to devote to artistic practice, resulting in new work

What is allowed?

  • Original artworks & artist projects
  • Individual and collaborative projects
  • All media
  • Suggested limitation of 1-3 artworks per artist/art collaborative

To have your artwork or project considered, please submit the following to curatorial@krasl.org:

  • Brief description of the artwork(s) or project proposed for display
  • Digital images of the proposed work (informal photographs are ok)
  • Brief artist statement or link to artist website

Timeline:

  • Entry Deadline: July 6, 2020
  • Artists Notified By: July 20, 2020
  • Artwork Delivered Onsite By: August 24, 2020
  • Exhibition Dates: September 4 – November 29, 2020

Artists and curators are encouraged to review the gallery plan to ensure proposals are scaled appropriately.

Public artists and sculptors are encouraged to review KAC’s Public Art Map to learn more about sites and placements.
