Krasl Art Center’s mission is to inspire meaningful change and strengthen community through the visual arts. On October 24 at 3 PM, KAC welcomes an expert on the topic to the 2021 KAC Annual Membership Meeting. This will be a hybrid presentation from Project FIRE founder Pearl Dick.

Experience the free event in KAC’s Galleries or on Zoom. Both require advance registration here.

Krasl Art Center is pleased to welcome Pearl Dick to the Annual Meeting of the Membership. One of two founders of Project FIRE (Fearless Initiative for Recovery and Empowerment), Pearl will share stories about the program and the impact art has had on her community. She currently teaches both the Fiber and Material Studies Hot Projects Glass Production class in her studio for the School of the Art Institute, Chicago.

From Pearl’s website, pearldick.com/instruction:

“… Project FIRE (Fearless Initiative for Recovery and Empowerment) is an artist development employment program that offers healing through glassblowing, combining glass arts education, mentoring, and trauma psychoeducation to support trauma recovery and create jobs for youth injured by violence.

Shortly after the launch of the program, Project FIRE joined forces with the well-established and respected nonprofit, ArtReach Chicago. Project FIRE is now the flagship program of ArtReach, and has paved the way for a variety of innovative social justice arts programs taking place at ArtReach.”

Project FIRE was featured on the NBC Nightly News – Inspiring America segment. View the coverage at pearldick.com/instruction.

The evening will include a brief annual meeting of KAC’s membership. KAC will announce new board officers and 2022 plans that further the organization’s mission.

Register for this event by Friday, October 22 at 4 PM here.
