Blurring the boundaries between the natural and the surreal, artist Allissa Corak creates intricate “realms” with sustainably sourced insects, preserved florals, and unique minerals. With meticulous craftsmanship and an imaginative vision, Corak transforms the organic elements into ethereal works of art that defy conventional categorization. Each piece is a symphony of textures, colors, and forms born from her proprietary preservation techniques. Still Life features preserved insects seemingly frozen in their lifecycle. Each piece is housed in repurposed vessels that were once candle holders, clocks, or lamps. Like all of Corak’s work, the sculptural creations are designed to transport viewers into a “realm” of otherworldly wonder where beauty otherwise unseen can be appreciated.
