The Marsh

Seemingly abstract, James Clover’s sculpture, The Marsh, has many familiar shapes from nature. At the base, tall, purple, green and orange grasses and blue waves support the upward reaching branches in red and pink. White water droplets fall from the bird taking flight, once hidden among the grasses of the marsh, is now flying high into the sky.

Born in Iowa in 1938, Clover studied sculpture at Kansas City Art Institute and School of Design in 1962 and received his MFA from Newcomb Art School at Tulane University in 1964. He later taught sculpture at both universities.
