SUMMARY:In the artlab: Casey Roberts
DESCRIPTION:August 9 – September 29 \nThemes surround nature will also be found in KAC’s artlab gallery. Indianapolis-based artist Casey Roberts uses a photographic process called cyanotype to create ethereal images of wildlife and landscapes. This civil war-era process gives a vibrant blue image when exposed to sunlight and developed. Roberts paints with this light-sensitive medium directly on paper or canvas. With everyday items such as baking soda\, bleach\, and peroxide\, he achieves a range of colors and textures through controlled chemical reactions. This process is repeated\, adding many layers until the image is fully realized\, often finishing with watercolor painting or a collage element. His work represents nature’s subtle way of dealing with the particular aspects in the relationship with mankind. \n

SUMMARY:COASTLINE CHILDREN’S FILM FESTIVAL - THE UNSEEN
DESCRIPTION:TUESDAY\, MARCH 12\, 6:30 PM  \nThe Unseen\n1997 Czech Republic\, 53 min\nwith English subtitles\nAges 10 and up\n  \nPeople imagine\, that the blind live in darkness and know nothing about the things around them. But they have a concrete image of everything.“ says photographer Daniela Horníčková\, who led blind children from the Prague Jaroslav Ježek School to capture their surroundings on still cameras. The children took pictures at school\, on field trips\, at home or the dormitory mostly focusing on things they knew by touch. In 1995\, director Miroslav Janek entered the project and shot a documentary stimulating comprehension of the issues and uniqueness of the creative process. \n\nThe Krasl Art Center is thrilled to be a venue for the 2019 Coastline Children’s Film Festival!  Join us for screenings throughout this two week festival\, including the premiere screenings and the grand finale with live music by Dr. Larry Schanker!  Donations are appreciated. See www.coastlinechildrensfilmfestival.com for film descriptions\, age recommendations and the full schedule. \n*All titles are subject to change.
