DESCRIPTION:SATURDAY\, AUGUST 14\, 10 AM - 2:30 PM\, BYO PICNIC LUNCH\n$10 per family of up to 4 participants. Ages 8 and up. Advance Registration required.\n  \nLearn how to sculpt with air during this collaborative\, hands-on workshop inspired by BLOW UP II. Led by Dutch architect Eric Schrijver and American artist and art educator Sarah Justice\, the team behind Levilab\, we will explore geometry and science\, color and light as we build our very own inflatables on KAC’s Oval Lawn. \nThis in-person workshop will be outdoors and socially distanced\, but multi-generational\, hands-on collaboration within each family group is encouraged. The new outdoor studio is part of KAC’s East Garden\, dedicated in memory of Lupe Hopp and underwritten by Horizon Bank. The site is dedicated to interactive sculpture. This year\, KAC combined the creativity and interaction of East Garden artist installations with the pragmatic need for an outdoor summer studio. Camps are inspired by the artworks of Renee Robbins and Nikki Renee Anderson\, on view in KAC galleries during ‘Boom Bloom’ April 3 – June 6\, 2021. The exhibition includes bold abstract paintings and sculptures that reference a variety of subjects\, including flowers\, the body\, cellular biology and outer space. \nCamps are available for students ages 5 – 7\, and 8 – 12 and cost $45 per student ($35 for KAC members). All camps are in-person\, registration and required forms are available at krasl.org/education/youth/camps. \nThe Camps: \nSB1: Clay Flower Pots and Spring Creatures \n5 – 7 YRS \nTUESDAY\, APRIL 6\, 9 AM – 12 PM \nSpring is finally here!  Create a flower pot and spring animals out of clay with Sherrie Styx! *Fired clay projects can be picked up April 23 – 26\, 11 AM  – 5 PM. \nSB2: Flower Power Paintings \n8 – 12 YRS \nTUESDAY\, APRIL 6\, 1 – 4 PM \nFlowers don’t have to be tiny\, delicate\, and pretty.  They can also be big\, bold\, and powerful! Keith Stevens will teach campers to use scale\, bold colors\, and dynamic shapes to highlight the energy and excitement of flowers and other common plants. \nSB3: Fantasy Solar Systems \n5 – 7 YRS \nWEDNESDAY\, APRIL 7\, 9 AM – 12 PM \nDraw\, paint\, and collage an entire solar system from your imagination with artist Dani Davis! Working on large black paper\, campers will populate the void with planets\, moons\, comets\, black holes\, and intergalactic inventions. \n  \nSB4: Space Junk Sculptures \n8 – 12 YRS \nWEDNESDAY\, APRIL 7\, 1 – 4 PM \nUse recycled materials to create robots\, spaceships\, rovers\, and satellites that will orbit the Krasl skies with instructor Keith Stevens! Finished sculptures will be spray painted silver and hung in KAC windows for the remainder of Spring Break week. \nSB5: Cellular Mandalas \n5-7 YRS \nTHURSDAY\, APRIL 8\, 9 AM-12 PM \nA mandala is a geometric form that begins with one central point and expands to infinite! See how gallery artist Renee Robbins has used this form in her art to represent micro and macro growth\, and then make your own paintings using the same idea with instructor Sherrie Styx. \nSB6: Biomorphic Clay Bodies (IN-PERSON) \n8-12 YRS \nTHURSDAY\, APRIL 8\, 1-4 PM \nTUITION: $45/35 MEMBERS \nClay is the perfect medium to create biomorphic forms that resemble or suggest living organisms! View the sculptures of Nikki Renee Anderson and make your own sculptures that appear to be in the process of growing\, breathing\, or changing shape before your eyes with artist Dani Davis.
