SUMMARY:In The Galleries: The World After Us
DESCRIPTION:“What will digital media be\, and do\, after us? Can we plan and act toward new and different futures?” The World After Us is a solo exhibition by Nathaniel Stern that begins with questions like these. The resulting installations\, sculptures\, prints\, and photographs use e-waste and plant life to explore the questions\, and their possible answers\, through a process of both scientific and artistic experimentation. \nExplore the exhibition through upcoming programs: \n\n\n\nEXHIBITION PREVIEW RECEPTION: THE WORLD AFTER US \nFRIDAY\, JANUARY 27\, 6 – 8 PM \nFREE and open to the public \n\n\nWORKSHOP WITH ARTIST NATHANIEL STERN\nSATURDAY\, JANUARY 28\, 10 AM – 12 PM \nPre-registered Event; free \n\n\nARTISTS IN DIALOGUE: NATHANIEL STERN & SASHA STILES\nSATURDAY\, FEBRUARY 18\, 10 AM – 12 PM \nPre-registered Event; free

SUMMARY:WORKSHOP WITH ARTIST NATHANIEL STERN
DESCRIPTION:SATURDAY\, JANUARY 28\, 10 AM – 12 PM \nPre-registered Event; free \nReconsider the life cycle of objects while using e-waste as planters. Artist Nathaniel Stern “roots trees in laptops\, grows molds and fungi in and around tablets\, injects watches\, phones\, and cameras with spores and microscopic life – then lets each flower\, flourish\, incubate\, and spread.” Inspired by Stern’s exhibition\, and led by the artist himself\, participants will dissect old electronics to repurpose them as containers for houseplants. Materials included. Participants are welcome to bring their own e-waste but are not guaranteed it will be used for the project. \nArtwork: Artist Nathaniel Stern is pictured with The Wall After Us (2020 and ongoing.)
