This Art Fundle focuses on the theme of the MLK Jr. Celebration Week: “Now Is The Time”\, through the lens of King’s “Letter From A Birmingham Jail.” The Art Fundle includes a lesson plan on King’s famous letter\, the political history of printmaking\, and ultimately\, teaches the participant how to make their very own printing plate for printmaking. \nThis activity is to provide students with an art-filled way to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day\, on Monday\, January 18\, or during the MLK Celebration Week. This event will be streamed through KAC’s YouTube channel. \nMultiple juried awards are presented during these exhibitions: The Elementary Exhibition features awards in the following categories: 2D and 3D (1st Place and 2nd Place) and the Jan Stevens Family Memory Award ($75 cash award in 2D\, 3D\, & Video). The Middle and High School Exhibition features awards for 1st\, 2nd\, and 3rd Place in 2D\, 3D\, and Video. Sponsor awards include the Sarah E. Cayo Memorial Art Award ($500 cash award)\, the Box Factory for the Arts Emerging Artist Award ($500 cash award to a senior pursuing the arts in college). Both exhibitions award the Berrien RESA Scholarship Awards ($50 art scholarships for 1 student per school).
