DESCRIPTION:Save the date! PechaKucha Volume 35 will be held March 12th from 7 – 9 PM at the Box factory. Sit back and enjoy hearing various stories from our community! \nPechaKucha\, translated to “chit chat” in Japanese\, is presentation format that shows 20 images that are 20 seconds each. Presenters get 400 seconds to tell their story in this format\, with visuals guiding the way giving anyone a chance to present their recent project or passion. \nPK St. Joeseph/Benton Harbor specifically brings Japan’s quick‘chit-chat’ tradition and has been bringing local creatives centerstage since 2015. The event will take place at Krasl Art Center\, 707 Lake Boulevard\, St. Joseph\, MI 49085.\n\nElements:Flower pots handmade by the Krasl Art Center Guild will be available for purchase. Three different price points will be available. (Ranging from $10 to $40) There will be three different stations: pre-done\, decorate and plant flowers in the pot.\n\nAdditional elements of the Pop Up event include the following:There will be specially designed flower pots available for silent auction with the auction ending on May 1st. Pop Up Card Making Activity in the Krasl Art Center Print LabBen’s Pretzel will be on site serving their hot & fresh tasty pretzels.

SUMMARY:Preview Party: Sculpture in the Direct Method
DESCRIPTION:Sculpture in the Direct Method presents a dynamic conversation between generations of Black artists\, exploring abstraction\, representation\, and political engagement in modern and contemporary practice. Featuring Isaac Duncan III\, Ajene Cetawayo Williams\, Richard Hunt\, and Albert LaVergne\, the exhibition highlights how material\, form\, and concept intersect to reflect both personal and collective histories. \nThe works on view range from bold abstraction to nuanced representation\, moving between politically engaged statements and more meditative explorations of gesture and form. Across sculpture and painting\, the exhibition demonstrates the breadth and complexity of Black artistic expression. \nBy bringing together artists from two generations\, the exhibition invites consideration of how ideas\, techniques\, and perspectives evolve while remaining grounded in cultural experience and artistic inquiry. Throughout\, material and process serve as key points of connection\, shaping how artists engage identity\, history\, and culture.
