SUMMARY:PechaKucha Volume 22 at the Box Factory for the Arts
DESCRIPTION:$5 TICKETED EVENT \nMembers of the community\, friends\, families\, and all those in-between are all cordially invited to attend the PechaKucha 20×20 St. Joseph/Benton Harbor Volume 22 Event. The ticketed event takes place at the The Box Factory for the Arts on Thursday\, January 13\, 2022\, from 7 – 9 PM. Doors open at 6 PM. \nPechaKucha’s – meaning “chit chat” in Japanese – presentation format shows 20 images\, each for 20 seconds. In other words\, presenters get 400 seconds to tell their story\, with visuals guiding the way. The $5 tickets ($6.94 after fees) are on sale now at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/pechakucha-sjbh-volume-22-the-box-factory-tickets-227031636737. \nDoors open at 6 PM\, with the first presenter beginning promptly at 7 PM. It is encouraged to arrive early and enjoy good company (and the cash bar!).\nLimited tickets will be available at the door. \nVolume 2022 Presentors are: \n\nEsther Ikoro: So…Why Are You Doing This…?\nCarly Hubers: But Wait… There’s More!\nMary Shananda Gayen: Evaluator and Social Worker\nJake Zapor\nMatthew Bizoe: Random Slides\n(BEER BREAK)\nJames Gunter\, John Sams: For us\, By Us\nNicole Pierard-D’herde\nJessica Hightower: Are you the artist?\n\n  \nPechaKucha St. Joeseph/Benton Harbor has been bringing local creatives to center-stage for 7 years in 2022\, and Volume 222 brings more creative stories! This is a special\, ticketed event with limited capacity – make sure to get your tickets in advance so you don’t miss out! Masks are required for all participants and guests when not actively presenting or drinking. \nWhether you have been to all 22 volumes or this is your first\, this fun and communal evening spent engaging with local artists and community members is sure to enlighten your evening. \nThis creative outlet began as nighttime get-togethers in Tokyo in 2003 by two renowned architects. Since then\, three million people have attended PechaKucha events worldwide. Inspired by their desire to “talk less\, show more\,” Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham of Tokyo’s Klein-Dytham Architecture (KDA) created PechaKucha in February 2003 as a way to attract people to their experimental event space in Roppongi\, Japan\, and to enable young designers to meet\, show their work\, and exchange ideas in 6 minutes and 40 seconds. \nIn 2003\, Tokyo began hosting PK Nights\, followed over the years by hundreds of other cities across the globe. As of April 2019\, PechaKucha nights had been held in more than 1\,142 cities worldwide and attended by more than 3 million people. It’s no surprise PechaKucha has been described at the worlds biggest physical social network! The key to the success is the simple format where presenters only get 20 images shown for 20 seconds each — giving anyone a chance to present their recent project or passion. \nMany cities often lack spaces where creative people can share their work\, so PechaKucha is about exposing the hidden creativity in a city. PechaKucha nights are organized by local passionate and enthusiastic people with backgrounds in many creative fields. \nFollow PechaKucha SJ/BH on Facebook as we reveal the lineup for volume 22! https://www.facebook.com/pechakuchasjbh\nKrasl Art Center and individual volunteers collaborate to bring this engaging event to the community. Looking to get involved in planing future events? Email pechakuchastbh@gmail.com. \nPechaKucha events provide excellent photo and video opportunities.
