DESCRIPTION:Enjoy sunshine\, sculpture\, and support small-town artists this summer! The Summer Art Market on the Green features different regional artists in four free\, outdoor community events. It is held in conjunction with the St. Joe Today Lake Bluff Artisan Fair on June 4\, July 16\, August 20\, and September 3 from 10 am – 5 pm. Purchases made support the artists directly\, and guests are encouraged to explore KAC’s gallery exhibitions indoors and public sculpture placed throughout the community during their visit. \nThe Summer Art Market events take place  on KAC’s outdoor campus. Tents will be displayed across KAC’s Oval Lawn\, Shaded Plaza\, and Patio\, selling handmade artworks ranging from $15 – $250. The ticketed event takes place at the The Box Factory for the Arts on Thursday\, January 13\, 2022\, from 7 – 9 PM. Doors open at 6 PM. \nPechaKucha’s – meaning “chit chat” in Japanese – presentation format shows 20 images\, each for 20 seconds. In other words\, presenters get 400 seconds to tell their story\, with visuals guiding the way. Since then\, three million people have attended PechaKucha events worldwide. Inspired by their desire to “talk less\, show more\,” Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham of Tokyo’s Klein-Dytham Architecture (KDA) created PechaKucha in February 2003 as a way to attract people to their experimental event space in Roppongi\, Japan\, and to enable young designers to meet\, show their work\, and exchange ideas in 6 minutes and 40 seconds. \nIn 2003\, Tokyo began hosting PK Nights\, followed over the years by hundreds of other cities across the globe. As of April 2019\, PechaKucha nights had been held in more than 1\,142 cities worldwide and attended by more than 3 million people. Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach\, programs are designed to be adaptable and responsive to the situation\, and provide opportunities for self-expression and storytelling. \n\nRegistration opens August 9 and closes September 6\, 2021.  \n\nClasses begin the week of September 13. \n\nKrasl Art Center’s 12–week youth courses provide a safe\, equitable\, friendly\, and fun learning experience for every student! Youth classes are scheduled during and after public school hours\, tuition is $275 ($180 for KAC Members)\, and scholarships are available. SUMMARY:Pop Up Concerts on the Oval Lawn
DESCRIPTION:THURSDAYS AT 4 PM IN AUGUST \nKrasl Art Center (KAC) is thrilled to host musicians from the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra (SMSO) for a free outdoor concert series! \nKAC’s benefactors\, Olga & George Krasl \, wanted to “make life more worthwhile”. The George Krasl Memorial Concert (GKMC) Fund is one more way their legacy continues to give back to our community. \nThe finale toKAC’s SMSO Summer Pop-Up Garden Concerts is funded in part by the 2021 GKMC Fund and combines the visual and musical arts on Thursday\, August 26 with the Martin Wind Duo. Kassia and Sam Martin’s program explores the connections between music and storytelling. They will play pieces inspired by stories\, from mythology\, opera\, and movies – some of which will include narration along with the music. Pieces include Syrinx by Claude Debussy\, The Pied Piper of Harlem by Adolphus Hailstork\, and Story Hour by Philip Parker. \nEnjoy different musical selections inspired by opera\, mythology\, pop culture\, storytelling\, and collaboration. Bring a lawn chair and picnic basket to this sunny\, free series held among beautiful artworks on Krasl Art Center’s campus. Donations are appreciated and support the 2021 Berrien County Arts Challenge. \nAugust 5\nBrook Bennett\, cello\nJessie Bennett\, violin\nMark Portolese\, violin\nSara Churchill\, viola\n\nThe program will include an afternoon of light classical music with “The Big Three” of classical composers; Mozart\, Beethoven\, and Haydn. The music will pick up and bring you to your feet with some dance music from Latin and South America.\n\n\n\n\nAugust 12 – CANCELED DUE TO EXTREME HEAT AND HUMIDITY\nBrandon LePage\, flute\nRachel Miller\, harp\n\nSpeaking of Latin music\, this flute and harp duet will have you dancing all night long with Piazzola’s History of the Tango. This dance-themed program will be fun\, inspiring\, and get you moving!\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAugust 19  \nDan Price\, trumpet\nRenée Vogen\, horn\nCorey Sansolo\, trombone\n\nFrom Baroque to jazz\, this brass trio has a large potpourri of music!
