SUMMARY:THE GEORGE KRASL MEMORIAL CONCERT WITH JOE BAUGHMAN + THE RIGHTEOUS FEW - LIVE AT THE LIVERY
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, September 16\n8:30 pm\nLive at The Livery\nFREE and open to the public\nJoin us at The Livery for the “George Krasl Memorial Concert” with Joe Baughman + The Righteous Few\, presented by Krasl Art Center! \nThis will be in conjunction with the opening of Joe’s exhibit\, The Stop-Motion Worlds of Joe Baughman\, and is open to the community! \nPlaying an amorphous variety of folk-rock that incorporates elements of indie\, funk\, gospel\, etc.\, JB+RF is an ensemble of musician-friends led by singer-songwriter and filmmaker Joe Baughman. Equally influenced by the sacred and profane\, JB+RF’s music takes color from daily Middle American existence\, personal sadsackery\, religious imagery\, and Joe’s experience as a freelance artist. \nTheir new album – Antichrist Complex – was released in 2022\, and it received acclaim from Glide Magazine and The Bluegrass Situation. On top of that\, the music video for “Vacant Spaces” – the second single off the album – won “Best National Music Video” at the Indie Memphis Film Festival. \nJoe started off as a solo act in 2011\, and from banjo\, to bass\, to brass\, he almost exclusively handled all of the musical duties on his early recordings (except for his – brother Mike on drums/percussion). Under the enigmatic stage persona of Roscoe Baggins\, Joe started The Flying DeSelms in 2016 — a project that allowed him to explore a “rockier” sound with Mike and Bryan Lewis (Bailey Williams & The Cherranes\, Every Mother\, The Golden Mallard). In order to emulate that heavier sound of The Flying DeSelms live\, Joe recruited the aforementioned and others to accompany him as they played shows in the South Bend scene. Some stuck around to back Joe as he simultaneously performed under his own name\, culminating in the collaborative sessions of 2019 EP\, Vacant Spaces\, and The Righteous Few was “born.” \nJB+RF is based out of South Bend\, Indiana but have played all over the Midwest.  \n‍ \nThe Band \nJOE BAUGHMAN – vocals\, piano\, guitar\, harmonica \nMIKE BAUGHMAN – drums \nMARTIN UFKIN – bass guitar\, background vocals \nSAM LIMA – electric guitar\, mandolin\, background vocals \nMICHAEL CUNNINGHAM – saxophone \nBRYAN LEWIS – synth

DESCRIPTION:CCFF March 3-12\n10 days of films and events for kids and their families\, all for free.\nPopcorn and water too! \nAlfons Jitterbacke – Class Trip Chaos 2022 Germany subtitles 90 min 10+ \nIn a last-minute dash across town\, Alfons just barely manages to catch the bus for his class trip to the Baltic Sea. In his luggage: lots of adventures\, funny pranks and … disaster – his mother’s clothes?! Alfons can’t believe he accidentally mixed up the suitcases\, just when he was planning on showing his new classmate Leonie how cool he is. In a desperate bid to impress her – and to the astonishment of his best friends Benni and Emilia – Alfons comes up with a bright idea: he will run for class president. Unfortunately\, his arch-enemy Nico immediately realizes that Alfons is only doing it to impress Leonie and challenges him to a stupid bet. So\, the fun continues and Alfons’ fate as an eternal jinx takes its usual course! To make matters worse\, his teacher Herr Flickendorf is just waiting for something to go wrong so he can pounce and send Alfons home. Flying macaroni with tomato sauce\, exciting nights around the campfire and a dangerous climbing tour turn the class trip into one that Alfons and his friends will never forget.

SUMMARY:PechaKucha Volume 22 at the Box Factory for the Arts
DESCRIPTION:$5 TICKETED EVENT \nMembers of the community\, friends\, families\, and all those in-between are all cordially invited to attend the PechaKucha 20×20 St. Joseph/Benton Harbor Volume 22 Event. The ticketed event takes place at the The Box Factory for the Arts on Thursday\, January 13\, 2022\, from 7 – 9 PM. Doors open at 6 PM. \nPechaKucha’s – meaning “chit chat” in Japanese – presentation format shows 20 images\, each for 20 seconds. In other words\, presenters get 400 seconds to tell their story\, with visuals guiding the way. The $5 tickets ($6.94 after fees) are on sale now at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/pechakucha-sjbh-volume-22-the-box-factory-tickets-227031636737. \nDoors open at 6 PM\, with the first presenter beginning promptly at 7 PM. It is encouraged to arrive early and enjoy good company (and the cash bar!).\nLimited tickets will be available at the door. \nVolume 2022 Presentors are: \n\nEsther Ikoro: So…Why Are You Doing This…?\nCarly Hubers: But Wait… There’s More!\nMary Shananda Gayen: Evaluator and Social Worker\nJake Zapor\nMatthew Bizoe: Random Slides\n(BEER BREAK)\nJames Gunter\, John Sams: For us\, By Us\nNicole Pierard-D’herde\nJessica Hightower: Are you the artist?\n\n  \nPechaKucha St. Joeseph/Benton Harbor has been bringing local creatives to center-stage for 7 years in 2022\, and Volume 222 brings more creative stories! This is a special\, ticketed event with limited capacity – make sure to get your tickets in advance so you don’t miss out! Masks are required for all participants and guests when not actively presenting or drinking. \nWhether you have been to all 22 volumes or this is your first\, this fun and communal evening spent engaging with local artists and community members is sure to enlighten your evening. \nThis creative outlet began as nighttime get-togethers in Tokyo in 2003 by two renowned architects. Since then\, three million people have attended PechaKucha events worldwide. Inspired by their desire to “talk less\, show more\,” Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham of Tokyo’s Klein-Dytham Architecture (KDA) created PechaKucha in February 2003 as a way to attract people to their experimental event space in Roppongi\, Japan\, and to enable young designers to meet\, show their work\, and exchange ideas in 6 minutes and 40 seconds. \nIn 2003\, Tokyo began hosting PK Nights\, followed over the years by hundreds of other cities across the globe. As of April 2019\, PechaKucha nights had been held in more than 1\,142 cities worldwide and attended by more than 3 million people. It’s no surprise PechaKucha has been described at the worlds biggest physical social network! The key to the success is the simple format where presenters only get 20 images shown for 20 seconds each — giving anyone a chance to present their recent project or passion. \nMany cities often lack spaces where creative people can share their work\, so PechaKucha is about exposing the hidden creativity in a city. PechaKucha nights are organized by local passionate and enthusiastic people with backgrounds in many creative fields. \nFollow PechaKucha SJ/BH on Facebook as we reveal the lineup for volume 22! https://www.facebook.com/pechakuchasjbh\nKrasl Art Center and individual volunteers collaborate to bring this engaging event to the community. Looking to get involved in planing future events? Email pechakuchastbh@gmail.com. \nPechaKucha events provide excellent photo and video opportunities.
