DESCRIPTION:Join artists Isaac Duncan III and Ajene Cetawayo Williams to learn more about their exhibition: Sculpture in the Direct Method.\n\nSpanning generations of artistic practice\, Sculpture in the Direct Method explores how artists engage abstraction\, representation\, and material process as interconnected and evolving strategies. The featured artists employ a range of visual languages\, from gestural and improvisational approaches to more structured and symbolic forms\, reflecting the breadth of contemporary and modern Black artistic practice.\n\nAt the center of the exhibition is the direct method of metal sculpture\, in which materials are cut\, bent\, and welded together to build form. This process allows for immediacy and revision\, positioning material as an active and responsive element in the development of each work. Rather than adhering to predetermined outcomes\, artists working in this way often allow form to emerge through interaction with their materials.\n\nSculpture in the Direct Method is on view through August 9th.

Let our team of 300+ volunteers guide you through all the Art Fair has to offer\, and consider supporting the professional artists by making a purchase that will be cherished for years to come! \nThe annual event predates Krasl Art Center (KAC) and is where our benefactress\, Olga Krasl\, developed a love for the artist community in Southwest Michigan. What started as a clothesline art fair in a local park has grown to be one of the top fairs in the U.S.\, drawing talented artists from across the country to our beautiful community.
